A man asked Ali(A.S.), cousin of Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.W.):
“How much authority do I have on myself and how much authority does God have over me?”
Ali(A.S.) replied:
“Lift your leg.”
He did. Ali(A.S.) said:
“This is your authority. Now lift your other leg too.”
The man replied, “I can’t. I’ll fall down.”
Ali(A.S.) said, “This is God’s authority.”
