Opposition rejects the decision of the recently “liberated” Supreme Court

On the 20th of July, when the 13 member larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan reinstated the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to his office, the opposition parties and the lawyers celebrated and said that the Supreme Court had been “liberated” after 60 years through their struggle.

Now on Sept 28th, when the same “liberated” Supreme Court ruled in favor of President General Pervez Musharraf at the end of the constitutional hearing of the petitions filed by Jamat-e-Islami, Imran Khan and Pakistan Lawyers(Liars) Forum against Musharraf’s two offices of the army chief and president, the same people have themselves rejected the decision of the Supreme Court and started blaming the judges. Double Standards or what?

Interesting thing to note here is that the govt. and Musharraf accepted all decisions of the Supreme Court readily, be it in favor of them or against them. Note also that the constitution gives the President the power to revoke any decision of the Supreme Court but it was not used by Musharraf. Keeping this in mind, the question that arises is “Who actually liberated the Supreme Court, Musharraf or the opposition?
